Cork County Council’s Library and Arts Services is marking Bealtaine this Month with an extensive range of creative activities to commemorate the festival that celebrates arts and creativity as we age. Taking place across the entire month of May, the Bealtine festival provides opportunities for all older people to meaningfully take part in and express their creativity and be represented by their work to highlight how our creative potential can grow as we age. 

As part of Cork County Council’s Bealtaine programme, ‘The Road Less Travelled’ will open to the public at 6pm on Friday 10th May in LHQ Gallery, Library Building, Cork County Hall. 

First of all this will be a fun course. If you have never written a song before...that is no problem.

As part of My Creative Wish a 4th class student from St Marys in Carrigaline wished to learn more about fashion design.

As part of My Creative Wish a 4th class pupil from Star of the Sea National School wished to learn more about producing animation.

What is being a writer all about? I’ve read a great story, could I do that? Do I have a story to tell? Could I really write a story or a book? What would that be like? 

As part of My Creative Wish, a 3rd class pupil from Scoil Naomh Padraig  wished to learn about Fashion Design. Over 6 weeks ahead of Cruinniú na nÓg artist Etaoin Meville will work with this pupil and her classmates to explore different mediums, materials and techniques.

A fun, easy pottery workshop for kids hosted by ceramicist Kira O Brien.

As part of My Creative Wish a 1st class pupil from Gael Scoil Dr. Uí Shúilleabháin inspired by her book about artist Frida Kahlo, wished to learn to paint just like Frida.

As part of My Creative Wish, students of Summer Cove National School Kinsale will receive creative writing workshops from author David McLoghlin.
