    Cork County Council supports several visitor centres, including the award winning Skibbereen Heritage Centre. Enjoy a visit to this West Cork facility and discover.....

    • Great Famine Commemoration Exhibition uses today's multimedia to bring this period of Irish history to life. Skibbereen was one of the worst affected areas of Ireland with mass graves where up to 10,000 are buried.
    • Lough Hyne Visitor Centre reveals the unique nature of Ireland's first Marine Nature Reserve. Multi language audio visual and salt water aquarium.
    • Genealogy information, 1901 and 1911 census for Skibbereen and district available.
    • Other features include archaeology trail, historical walking tours and gift shop.
    • All situated in beautifully restored historic riverside building with feature on the Old Gasworks and its history.
