Procedure for the allocation of Plots for cemeteries in South Cork.
1. Anyone wishing to acquire a plot must first make contact with the respective Registrar 

of the cemetery that they are interested in (see list for contact details of Registrars).   The Registrar will advise them of the availability/allocation of plot(s). The Registrar will arrange with the applicant for the completion of the relevant allocation forms. The Registrar will then submit the forms to the Cemeteries Section, Water Services, Floor 5, County Hall. This section will then issue the invoice and request payment. All payments will have to be made to the above section. Once payment is received, a Certificate of Right of Burial will be issued in respect of the plot(s). 

2.     In some instances, in particular where the plot is required for immediate interment, undertakers may assist in the above process.

Procedure for the allocation of Niches at the Columbarium at St. James's Cemetery, Chetwynd, Bandon Road to facilitate the inurnment of ashes.

1.     Anyone wishing to acquire a niche must first make contact with the Registrar at St. James's cemetery (see list for contact details of Registrar).   The Registrar will advise them of the availability/allocation of niche(s). The Registrar will arrange with the applicant for the completion of the relevant allocation form. The Registrar will then submit the form to the Cemeteries Section, Water Services, Floor 5, County Hall. This section will then issue the invoice and request payment. All payments will have to be made to the above section. Once payment is received, a Certificate of Right of Inurnment will be issued in respect of the niche(s).

2.     The current charges are €800 for a niche which accommodates up to 2 inurnments and €1,340 for a niche which accommodates up to 4 inurnments. The number of inurnments is dependent on the size of the urn in use. The cost of engraving of the niche tablet is included in the above charges.
