In accordance with Urban Wastewater Treatment Regulations, 2001 & 2004, all urban wastewater treatment plants with a population equivalent (P.E.) of greater than 2000 have been regularly monitored. Results of effluent monitoring are sent to the E.P.A. annually and is used in the publication of their Biennial Report "Urban Waste Water Discharges in Ireland".
