The above photograph was taken on 04th March 2012 at a heritage event in the Gearagh with a talk provided by Teddy Cook. Over 70 people were there on the day!

NEWS
- 1) Heritage Week This year, 2012, Heritage Week will run from 18th to 26th August and full details of the events taking place throughout the County Area of Cork will be provided on this website shortly. Click here for further information including a blog on some of the events attended during Heritage Week in 2011.
- 2) Numerous documents have been added to the Documents Page on this website which can be accessed by clicking here . The Heritage Unit happens to have a number of these publications available in the County Hall so do drop in to see what's available.
- 3) The Heritage Council Grants Scheme will be advertised in September 2012. This aim of the scheme is to support individuals and communities in their efforts to research, protect and manage aspects of their local heritage. For more information on this scheme go to the Heritage Council Grants page.
- 4) This year the Heritage Unit of Cork County Council is working on a number of projects arising from the County Heritage Plan and the County Biodiversity Action Plan. Full details of such projects will be added shortly.

- As part of the Realignment Works proposed for the Regional Road (R581) between New Twopohthouse and Doneraile, extensive archaeological finds have been unearthed at Caherduggan. For more information on this archaeological survey please click here
