Training and Development
Cork County Council is committed to the provision of the best possible service to its customers. It is an integral part of this commitment that all employees are given equal access to appropriate training. Recognising the need for highly trained employees, the Council provides training opportunities for staff to develop their knowledge and skills.
The County Council supports the development is its staff in a variety of ways, including the provision of:
- Funded courses leading to professional and/or academic qualifications.
- Paid study, exam and special leave to attend classes and tutorials.
Staff and Members' Library and Information Centre
The Library and Information Centre offers an up-to-date information service to all employees and Council members.
Regional Training Centre, Ballincollig
Cork County Council operates a training centre at Ballincollig, on behalf of local authorities in the South-West region. It was established in 1997 to serve the training needs of a broad range of outdoor local authority personnel, with many courses servicing both the Roads and Water Services areas. It serves the training needs of personnel from Cork County Council, Kerry County Council and Cork City Council, which are the three local authorities in the Centre's remit.
The Training and Development Officer in Cork County Council oversees the management and operation of the Regional Development Centre.
