Comhairle na nÓg are local youth councils, which give children and young people the opportunity to be involved in the development of local services and policies.
Comhairle na nÓg were set up under the National Children's Strategy (2000) in the 34 City and County Development Boards around the country and are overseen and part-funded by the Office of the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs (OMCYA). Delegates from Comhairle na nÓg are elected to represent their local area at the annual Dáil na nÓg (national youth parliament), held in March every year.

The development fund has allowed the activities of the Youth Council to be developed and in addition to the annual event, activities of Comhairle na nÓg are carried out throughout the year in the form of meetings, presentations, discussions & activities. Meetings are usually held during school holidays.

- To give young people in Co. Cork a voice to be heard under Goal 3 of the National Children's Strategy
- To Promote Recreational & Social Opportunities for Young People in Co.Cork in line with the National Recreational Policy for Young People and Teenspace
- To promote positive health and well being for young people under actions identified at the Comhairle AGM, to engage with Youth Service Providers to deliver a co-ordinated response to young peoples needs & to promote opportunities and services for young people
- To promote Active Citizenship and democratic participation for young people under actions identified at Comhairle AGM

- Comahirle na nOg held on 26th November 2009
- 26 young people elected to the Youth Council

- Presentation made by the Joint Chairs to the JPC meeting on 8th February 2010
- Attendance at Dail na nOg on 5th March 2010
- Participation in vote at 16 events in Dublin
- Submission to White Paper on Crime in January
- Submission to the National Substance Misuse Strategy in February
