This new four-year BA TDS degree course will commence in September 2012 when the first cohort of twenty full-time students move into the state-of-the-art theatre education facilities in the CIT Cork School of Music's new, purpose-built conservatory building in the city centre. Arts Council Artist in the Community Scheme
Twice yearly, the Arts Council offers grants to enable artists and communities of place/or interest to work together on collaborative arts projects. The scheme is open to artists from any of the following artform disciplines: architecture, circus, street art and spectacle, dance, film, literature (Irish and English language), music, opera, theatre, visual arts and traditional arts. The projects can take place in a diverse range of social and community contexts eg arts and health; arts in prisons; arts and older people; arts and cultural diversity. The aim of the scheme is to encourage meaningful collaboration between communities of place and/or interest and artists. It is essential that consultation take place between the artist and the community group, so that both parties are involved in deciding on the nature of the project realisation. Artist in Residence Opportunity: Early Years Music Pilot

Basement Project Space: Call for Studio Applications
Basement Project Space Studios are inviting applications for a studio space which has become available. BPS Studios is adjacent to Basement Project Space an artist-led initiative established in July 2009. In addition to your studio space artists have the use of a separate timetabled space (the Media-Lab), which we have recently secured funding to develop. The selected artist will have access to an iMac computer with a suite of programs including Final Cut and additionally free Internet access. There is also the benefit of engaging with a lively program of events, talks and social nights taking place in the project space. Longer-term members will be given the opportunity to exhibit in the project space in the summer period. The Hook Up Contact Making Seminar, Thursday 23rd to Sunday 26th February
THE HOOK-UP is a free international event in Cork running from Thursday 23rd to Sunday 26th Feb 2012. The Hook-Up aims to explore new and exciting volunteer opportunities for creative young people and creative organisations through the European Voluntary Service and to link Irish young people and organisations to potential partners across Europe working in similar fields and who are interested in hosting volunteers and is aimed at organisations interested in sending volunteers and also for young people 18-30 who wish to participate in EVS – further information at www.thehookupopportunity.com.

CIT Cork School of Music BA (Hons) in Theatre and Drama Studies
This new four-year BA TDS degree course will commence in September 2012 when the first cohort of twenty full-time students move into the state-of-the-art theatre education facilities in the CIT Cork School of Music's new, purpose-built conservatory building in the city centre. The programme focuses on theatre performance training, with supporting modules in theatre design, acting for screen, musical theatre and education to facilitate wider career options. Alongside core disciplines of voice, movement and acting studies, students will develop a range of creative and practical skills, which will equip them to enter a competitive profession. The Painting Imperative
The Painting Imperative is a new online magazine dedicated to the discussion of all aspects of contemporary painting from around the globe. Each issue will look at the work made by today’s painters; it will be critical and appreciative, highlighting successes, problems and inspirations, and hopefully give a taste of what’s going on in the studios and galleries of contemporary practitioners. The Painting Imperative also aims to become a platform for emerging critical voices, and to spread the word about the huge diversity of painting practice alive today.
