The Cork Film Centre, Civic Trust House, hosts a Canon DSLR Workshop with Lighting Cameraman Barry Donnellan on Saturday and Sunday 26th and 27th May from 10 am to 4 pm This two day workshop with international cameraman Barry Donnellan is aimed at people already shooting or interested in shooting with Canon DSLR's. Barry will cover the basics as well as more advanced techniques. A practical lighting session will also be included on the Saturday while an opportunity to actually shoot with Barry will be incorporated into the Sunday session. Community Drama Training Programme for young people
NAYD is currently designing a new training programme for community-based groups and organisations who wish to engage with youth drama, in particular those that work with young people from disadvantaged communities. Participating community workers will be trained over a period of six months to develop facilitation skills in using drama as a methodology to empower young people. MART Call for Submissions

Irish Youth Choir /RTE Performing Groups Conductor in Training scheme
The IYC and RTÉ Performing Groups are offering a Conductor in Training Scheme, a funded and extended trainee choral conducting programme for 2012/14. In addition to access to IYC’s artistic director Greg Beardsell and to the all activities and programmes associated with the Irish Youth Choir, the successful applicant for this programme will have access to the RTE performing groups, in particular to the RTE Philharmonic Choir and Orchestras. For the first time, a bursary is to be made available to assist the 2012/14 conductor in training to engage with this unique opportunity. The Irish Youth Choir 2012 residential course will run from 23rd June to 1st July. At its conclusion two concerts will be given - 30th June as part of the Cork Midsummer Festival and 1st July in St Patrick's Cathedral Dublin. In addition, the IYC will perform at Kilkenny Arts Festival on August 11th. The Irish Youth Chamber Choir will reassemble in the autumn of 2012 for a number of performances. The successful candidate will play the fullest part possible in all IYC activities as performer (s/he will sing with the choir) and understudy for Greg Beardsell. There will be an opportunity to conduct the IYC in one piece in public performances: other opportunities will arise to give additional support and training to singers during the annual residential course, during Irish Youth Chamber Choir rehearsals and in other Irish Youth Choir training contexts. Basement Project Space: Call for Studio Applications
Basement Project Space Studios are inviting applications for a studio space which has become available. BPS Studios is adjacent to Basement Project Space an artist-led initiative established in July 2009. In addition to your studio space artists have the use of a separate timetabled space (the Media-Lab), which we have recently secured funding to develop. The selected artist will have access to an iMac computer with a suite of programs including Final Cut and additionally free Internet access. There is also the benefit of engaging with a lively program of events, talks and social nights taking place in the project space. Doug DuBois receives Guggneheim Fellowship Award
Sirius Arts Centre is pleased to announce that Doug DuBois, has been honoured with a John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship Award in America. Photographer and teacher, Doug DuBois has been working in partnership with the Sirius Arts Centre in Cobh County Cork Ireland since 2009 through Sirius’ international Artist in Residency Programme funded by the Arts Council and Cork County Council. This partnership has lead to the development of his new body of work, “My Last Day At Seventeen” which takes as its focus a housing estate in Cobh. The Painting Imperative
