  • Craft Commission

Cork County Council Library and Arts Services
    Celebrating National Year of Craft.

To celebrate National Year of Craft 2011, Cork County Council Library and Arts Services will commission up to five craftspeople to create unique works designed to be displayed in some of their 28 libraries in Cork County.

The commissioned works will be inspired by a children’s story or book.  The commission also allows an opportunity for makers to work with and involve children in the design and/or making of the work.

The maximum value of each commission will be €1,500

One of the aims of the project is to enable artists to engage with young people and library staff to share ideas and work collaboratively in the course of the commission.
The commissioned work will be on long-term display and will help promote the idea of Library as a creative space in the community.
