Midleton Library offers a wide range of books for lending to adults and children, including books on tape and CDs. A selection of general reference books is also held, such as encyclopaedias and dictionaries.
A new collection of Manga Graphic Novels for teenagers is available at the library.
The Irish Examiner, the Irish Independent, the Irish Times, and the East Cork Journal are also available for viewing in the library.
Internet access is available on 5 PCs. This includes one PC with full Assistive Technology to aid people with disabilities. Advance booking for this service is advisable.
Events
- A Pre-school Storytime is held every Wednesday at 10:00am.
- Four Children's Book Clubs are held every month on Thursdays at 6:00pm. Contact library staff for details.
- The Citizen's Information Service holds a confidential outreach service once a fortnight, from 2:30pm to 4:30pm on Wednesday afternoons. No appointment necessary.
- FÁS eLearning computer classes take place every Tueday from 2 - 5pm.
- The Adult Reading Group meets on the first Friday of the month at 11am.
- Home Eductators, parents and children, meet in the library ecery Tuesday from 11am.
- Midleton Writers Group meets on the first Thursday of the month at 7.30pm.
- The Crochet/Knitting Group meets every Tuesday at 11am.
- Gramophone recitals are held on occasion, usually to coincide with seasonal events, such as Christmas, Bealtaine or Positive Aging Week.
- Various other activities are held throughout the year, including involvement in local and national festivals, such as the Seachtain na Gaeilge Festival, the Summer Arts Programme and the Children's Book Festival.
- Exhibitions are held in the library from time to time, such as school project exhibitions or local craft centre exhibitions. The library also supplies colouring sheets and colouring materials for children, displays their work and occasionally runs competitions and offers prizes.
