Communications and Press Office
The aims of this unit are the following:
- To provide an innovative approach to profile raising and develop effective communications with the general public and key audiences, including County Council staff.
- To establish links with local and national media in developing a proactive approach to publicising the activities of the Council through press releases, marketing and advertising.
- To influence key audiences to ensure Cork County Council enjoys a positive public image.
- To ensure that all messages conveyed to internal and external key audiences support the corporate imperative of presenting Cork County Council in a way that adheres at all times to the highest standards of public administration.
- To support the corporate governance statement that Cork County council is open and accountable for all its actions, in keeping with its democratic mandate.
Specific functions performed by the Communications and Press Office include the following:
- Organising official openings of major infrastructural projects.
- Overseeing the roll out of internal communications initiatives, such as the County Council intranet site and its annual yearbook and diary.
- Handling press queries and issuing press statements.
- Providing support services and internal PR advice to all departments.
- Supporting the Mayor's Office on an ongoing basis.
