  • County Mayor, Cllr. John Paul O'Shea and the Chief Executive of Cork County Council, Mr. Tim Lucey, are leading a delegation to Jiangsu Province, China from May 23rd.
  • County Mayor Cllr. John Paul O 'Shea, who led a business and tourism delegation to Boston last December to develop partnerships with this key US region and, in  anticipation of direct flights between Boston and Cork, has enthusiastically welcomed the progress made on securing this significant opportunity for Cork and the south of Ireland .
  • The Code Level Orange weather warning, issued by Met Eireann remains in place through Sunday and Cork Council emergency crews were active in many coastal towns where tidal flooding occurred around the time of high water.

  • Southwest to west winds will reach mean speeds between 65 and 80 km/h with gusts between 110 and 130 km/h during today. Winds will peak this afternoon and evening and will be at their strongest along the coasts and exceptionally high waves are forecast on Atlantic coasts.   • A combination of strong onshore winds, high tides and heavy rain brings the enhanced risk of coastal flooding overnight and tomorrow morning to exposed coastal areas
  • Cork County Council today adopted  a Capital Expenditure programme totalling €442.8 million over a three year period 2016-2018. The overall emphasis of expenditure relates to housing construction, roads, environment, recreation & amenity, and flood programmes.
  • Irish Water and Cork County Council wishes to notify consumers, following advice from the Health Service Executive, that Irish Water and the Council are now in a position to remove the boil water notice with immediate effect.
  • In view of the significant level of media interest and recent public commentary on the response of various agencies including the co-ordination of same, Cork County Council have today issued a summary of its response to the severe weather events over the holiday period.
  • Saturday 1830hrs: River Blackwater levels have peaked - Flood barriers at Mallow Bridge N72/N22 will be taken down shortly and at Fermoy BridgeN72/R639  by 9.00am tomorrow Sunday 3 January.
  • Due to the exceptional weather events, there is concern as to the water quality of the supply from Whitegate Regional Water Supply Scheme.As a precaution, Irish Water and Cork County Council in consultation with HSE, have issued boil water notice to consumers in the Whitegate, Cloyne and Ballycotton areas of East Cork.   • Owing to a localised landslide overnight, the R666-44 at Ballynalacken/Kilmurry South Townland on the main Fermoy/Ballyduff road will be closed until the middle of next week.
