  • The total number of new tenants housed during 2010 was 502, the highest number of new tenants in any Local Authority in the country.

  • On New Year's Day, to pay tribute to one of the biggest maritime events in the last 100 years, The Irish Naval Service will berth the LE Emer in Deep Water Quay, outside the Cobh Heritage Centre and it will be open to the public from 2.00pm - 4pm. This will be followed by a poignant gun salute exchange from Spike Island and the LE Emer. At 5.30pm we will remember the people associated with the Titanic by releasing 123 flares from Spike Island, this number representing the people that boarded the Titanic from Cobh on the 11th of April 1912.

  • Cllr Tim Lombard, Mayor of the County of Cork leads the tribute to Member of Cork County Council Michael Donegan.
  • Cork County Council today welcomed the publication by the EPA of its report on the Provision and Quality of Drinking Water in Ireland for the year 2010. The report indicates an overall rate of 99.4% compliance with drinking water standards serving a population of 307,473. In particular the Council welcomed the fact that the high compliance rate achieved in 2009 was sustained in 2010.
