Navigational Aids

  • Navigational Aids

Cork County Council is a Local Lighthouse Authority (LLA), and has direct responsibility for nine navigational aids. These are Schull Harbour Front and Rear leading lights; Reen Point; Wood Point, Courtmacsherry; Courtmacsherry Harbour Inner and Outer Perch; Ballycrovane; Illaunnmearia; and Carrigduff. The Council does not maintain any navigational aids in South Cork

If a navigational aid is to be established along the Cork coastline, the applicant is required to fill out the statutory sanction forms and send them to Cork County Council. Upon making a decision, the Council submits this information to the Commissioners of Irish Lights.
