Q. What are the current Non-Domestic Water Charges?
Ans. In 2008 the combined charge for Water and Waste Water services to metered consumers is €2.09/m3. This is made up of a Water charge of €0.94m3 and a Waste Water charge of €1.15/m3 . The Waste Water charge is based on Water In being equal to Water Out.
In 2008 the combined charge for Water and Waste Water services to un-metered customers is €525. This is made up of a Water charge of €247 and a Waste Water charge of €278.
In 2008, where the Water and Waste Water services incorporate a domestic element the following allowances will apply

Q. Are there changes to the current billing arrangements?
Ans. For 2006, bills were issued by the relevant Division of Cork County Council i.e. North, South, and West, for their respective areas. Town Councils no longer issue bills or collect payments. From 2007 onwards, bills will be issued centrally through the Finance Department of Cork County Council.
Q. How often will I get a bill?
Ans. The majority of customers will receive a single bill for 2006. From 2007 onwards, bills will be issued on a half yearly basis to the majority of customers. Current arrangements where larger consumers are billed on a more regular basis will continue.
Q. How much will I have to pay for the installation of the meter?
Ans. Cork County Council will not charge you separately for the meter and related work. The cost of the meter box, meter, pipes, installation work and labour are incorporated into the overall budget and customer bills, as at present.
Q. What period of consumption will bills cover?
Ans.
- A) To date , bills have been issued for consumption in arrears e.g. Meter readings taken in October for the previous year were billed the following April/May. This remained the position for 2006.
- B) From 2007, an Automatic Meter Reading System is currently being implemented and bills will be issued current to consumption i.e. bills will be issued soon after the meter reading and will relate to the period of consumption immediately prior to the issue of the bills.
In 2007, a customer may be billed for up to 18 months consumption to allow the transition from A) to B) above.
Billing arrangements for fixed charge customers remained unchanged in 2006. In 2007 they will be billed based on metered consumption.
Q. What is the legal relationship between Cork County Council and Morrison Utility Services Ltd?
Ans. Cork County Council have appointed Morrison Utility Services Ltd as Contractors to install and read water meters for all non-domestic consumers in Cork County.
Q. When will the consumers water meters be installed?
Ans. Morrison Utility Services Ltd will contact all non-domestic consumers, firstly to arrange a pre installation survey, and subsequently to arrange the installation of meter(s). The contract commenced in June 2006 and the majority of meters will be installed in the first 15 months.
Q. What will the pre installation survey involve?
Ans. A member of Morrison Utility Services Ltd team will call to survey your premises, collate information concerning water connection/consumer details and complete a questionnaire to determine a suitable size and location for the water meter(s).
Q. What happens after the pre-installation survey?
Ans. Morrison Utility Services Ltd will determine the size of water meter(s) required. Morrison Utility Services Ltd will then schedule a date for the meter installation.
Q. Where will the meter be installed?
Ans. The meter and meter box will be installed outside the property boundary, in grass margins or footpaths where possible. In certain instances it will be necessary to install the meter internally. This will be discussed and agreed in advance with the customer.
Q. Will the customer need to be present for meter installation?
Ans. No, Customers will not need to be present for the installation to take place, unless an internal meter is being installed.
Q. What happens if the same connection serves my house and my land/commercial building?
Ans. Where it is not possible to separate land/commercial building from a domestic supply, a domestic allowance will be applied in the bill.
Q. What happens if I have more than one connection to my Land/business?
Ans. Each connection from the water main will be metered.
