Implementation


    • Cork County Council has appointed RPS Ltd., Consulting Engineers, to administer the contract.
    • Cork County Council has appointed Morrison Utility Services Ltd. as contractors for the Design Build and Operate phase of the project.
    • The Design and Build phase of the contract will be approximately 15 months. The Operate phase of the project will be 15 years.
    • It is expected that in excess of 20,000 additional  non-domestic water meters will be installed and that most of the existing customer meters will also be replaced.
    • A member of the contractor's survey team will call to every non-domestic premises to survey the existing/proposed connection and pipe network. All personnel will be carrying official identification and should be required to produce it to each customer.
    • Every customer will receive at least 2 weeks notice prior to meter installation. The contractor will keep disruption of the water supply to an absolute minimum. Details of an official helpline will be given to each customer at the initial visit. This helpline should be used only for queries about the installation of the meter.
    • Meters will be read using an AMR (Automatic Meter Reading) System on a 3-monthly basis. Larger consumers may have their meters read more frequently.
