Water Conservation

  • Water Conservation

Water is a resource and does not come free due to extraction, treatment and distribution costs.  There are many water conservation measures that can be carried out by the homeowner to conserve this essential resource at little or no cost.

    What can I do?

Fix any leaks promptly - a dripping tap can waste 40 litres of water per day.

    • Fix a trigger activated hose nozzle to your garden hose - this reduces water usage substantially when washing windows etc. around your home.
    • Don't let the tap run continuously when brushing your teeth, preparing vegetables etc.
    • Wait until you have a full load before using the washing machine or dishwasher. This will also save on electricity bills.
    • If you see a leak on a public water main please report to your local County Council office.
