A town of 2,000 inhabitants located 89km west of Cork City and is a 80 minute drive from Cork City and Cork International Airport. It is accessed by the National Secondary Route N71. The town lies within the Cork North and West Strategic Plan boundary.

No sites available at present but Cork County Council is considering the development of lands in its ownership in the Skibbereen area and would welcome expressions of interest from businesses involved in the light industrial/manufacturing sector.
