Energy

  • Energy Office

In 1995, Cork County Council established the Energy Agency Office under European Commission's Regional and Urban Energy Planning Programme. Since then, office has secured over 38 EU co-funded energy projects and accumulated over 70 partners in 13 European countries.

The main goal of the Energy Office is to educate the general public about energy conservation and renewable energy. This is achieved through the following measures:

    • The dissemination of literature.
    • The provision of a reference library.
    • The provision of advice to the public.

Initiatives have included school visits, using the 'Energy Game', which is an interactive floor game devised by Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI); and a children's poster competition for Energy Awareness Week, which takes place in the last week of September.
