Anonymous Calls in relation to Dog Control Issues

On the first verbal contact, the details of the anonymous complaint, including the name of the complainant (if available) are to be logged and clearly marked ‘anonymous’.

The person making the verbal complaint is to be informed that anonymous complaints are investigated once only.  This policy decision is a direct result of previous experience with incidents of nuisance and/or vexatious anonymous complaints

Where there are any further verbal complaints from the same person in relation to the same issue, and still requesting anonymity, the person must be informed that for the continuance of the investigation:
    1. The complaint has to be made in writing
    2. The complainant must state that they are prepared to attend at court as a witness, if required.
    3. Their anonymity cannot be guaranteed as the person against whom the complaint is being made may submit a Freedom of Information request to obtain the name.
