The onus is on the seller to ensure that all paperwork is properly completed and sent to the appropriate office - (see below).
a) Vehicles Registered Before 1st January, 1993.
Complete a Change of Ownership form (RF200*), and submit it to the seller's local tax office, making sure that it is signed by both parties and that the date of sale is clearly indicated. Enclose the log book with the form.
b) Vehicles Registered After 1st January, 1993
Complete Part B of the vehicle licensing certificate and send the form to Vehicle Registration Unit, Shannon, Co. Clare, (not the motor tax office). The new owner will receive a registration certificate in his/her name in due course.
