It also provides an advisory service, which includes calling to employees prior to retirement, offering help and advice to widows of employees as required and assisting in the presentation of pre-retirement courses.

The key activities of this section are as follows:

    • Payment of lump sums and pensions for retirees.
    • Dealing with queries from staff and pensioners regarding entitlements.
    • Dealing with service queries.
    • Ensuring staff are fully advised, following meetings with the Superannuation Officer, of all entitlements prior to retirement.
    • Calling to widows or widowers of employees to offer advice and help, as required.
    • Organising refunds of superannuation contributions, as appropriate.
