MALLOW TOWN PARK
Mallow Town Park comprises approximately 30 acres. It has been used by the people of Mallow for recreational purposes for the past 100 years. The following sporting clubs also avail of the facility:
- Mallow G.A.A. Club
- Mallow United Soccer Club
- Mallow Rugby Club
PLAYGROUNDS
The Playground at the Town Park was installed in 1990. A fundraising Committee had been established to raise the finance to provide the playground equipment and the Urban District Council (now known as the Town Council) provided the site. The Official Opening of the Playground by Uachtaran Na h-Eireann, Mary Robinson, took place in 21st April, 1991. In recent years additional equipment has been installed and the facility has been upgraded under the Playground Grants Scheme.
The Playground at Sandfield was provided in 2004. The project was jointly funded by Mallow Town Council and Blackwater Resource Development.
The Playground at Woodview Drive was opened in 2007. It was provided for the residents of the Estate primarily and was funded under the Playgrounds Grants Scheme.
Contribution to Voluntary Groups
Mallow Town Council provides funding in the Annual Budget to assist local sporting, artistic and cultural organisation in the activities within the Town. Public Notice inviting applications for funding are placed following adoption of the Annual Budget. In addition one off contributions are made for special events including occasions when Mallow is represented at events elsewhere in the country and internationally.
