The third annual Mallow business awards were launched last Friday at the Barry Group headquarters by Mr Jim Barry CEO of the Barry group, Mayor of Mallow Cllr Willie O’Regan, Chamber President Pat O Sullivan, Michael Mulcahy Progressive Media and Steve Murphy Mallow Star Media partner. Many of Mallows business people were present and were left in no doubt that Mallow was alive and kicking after speeches by Jim Barry, Willie O’Regan and Pat O’Sullivan.
Last years categories were
• Large business
• Small Business
• Business Person of the year.
This years categories have been extended to include three new categories,
• Customer Service
• Best Shop Front
• Best New Business ( open within the last two years)
Nominations and entry forms for all categories will be available on the Chamber Website at www.mallowchamber.ie or can be picked up from the Chamber office Monday to Friday between 09.30 and 12.30.
The Mallow Business awards will be presented by Mr Jim Barry at the annual Mallow Chamber Ball in Springfort Hall on Friday December 3rd 2010. This event was so successful in 2009 that it will be an evening not to be missed with tickets available from Aug 3rd at the Mallow Chamber office. Due to great demand it is advisable to buy these tickets as early as possible.
The Mallow Chamber Ball which is a Black tie event will feature special guest speaker and music into the early hours of the morning will be provided by Joanna and Tequila Sunrise.
The three new awards we have introduced this year, we hope will be of great benefit to the businesses who get nominated for them. They will also help promote Mallow Town and highlight all our town has to offer.
Best New businesses; this award is for any new business that opened in the last two years from the closing date of applications. Many new businesses struggle to get recognised in the first couple of years of business and can sometimes fail for this very reason. We are hoping that this award gives recognition to new businesses and encourages people to take that extra step needed in starting up a new business.
Best Shop Front; Many people walk up and down the main street every day of the week and do not appreciate the trouble some businesses go to make their shop front as attractive as possible we intend to honour the shop front that goes that extra mile. We are also hoping this new award helps Mallow Town to put its best face forward.
Customer Service Award; probably the most important award any business could receive. Nothing brings customers back in to a shop like good customer service. This award will be judged in two ways by independent judges who will nominate the contestant and by the public through an open vote. The method for this has still to be decided.
We are encouraging all businesses to participate in this years awards, don’t be shy, nominate yourself, you might like to nominate the business next door, its simple and it’s free. Winning an award for your business is a great way to get the people in Mallow Town to sit up and take note of your business.
Help keep Mallow in the public eye. These awards are a positive promotion for Mallow. The Mallow business awards brought national recognition to the town last year. This year we intend to increase our national campaign in promoting the awards, don’t miss out, be part of the business awards.
