Cork County Council and Uillinn: West Cork Arts Centre Announce Partnership Artist Residency for 2024

Cork County Council and Uillinn: West Cork Arts Centre are delighted to announce a partnership residency for artists Patsy Tyrrell & Fiona Boniwell. Taking place in April and May 2024, this partnered residency supports artists seeking opportunities to research and develop their practice, and engage with Uillinn, local and diverse communities and the public. The award includes a studio space for 4 weeks at Uillinn and a stipend of €2,500 each. Both residencies are funded by the Cork County Council Arts Service.

Cork County Council Announces Funding Opportunities for Creative Community Projects

Cork County Council’s Creative Communities Programme Fund 2024 is now open for applications which focus on new and ambitious projects that establish cultural and creative activities with communities across Cork County. This year, for the first time, the fund will be available for projects of one, two, or three year duration.

Cork County Council’s Library Head Quarter Gallery is excited to present ‘The Books We Haven’t Read’ a solo exhibition by Elize de Beer. The exhibition, which includes a series of screenprints, a large-scale paper tapestry and artist’s books, presents the idea that there is more power to the books we have not yet read than the ones we have.

Cork County Council Unveils New Pop-up Exhibition in Cobh

Cork County Council is delighted to support Cobh-based visual artist Eamonn Leahy’s newly opened pop-up exhibition of works inspired by the waterways, landforms and rich heritage of Cork Harbour. With the support of funding received through the Council’s Creative Start Up Scheme, Eamonn has transformed a former bakery on East Beach, Cobh into an exciting exhibition space just in time for the festive season.

Victoria Kennefick announced as Cork County Council Writer in Residence

Cork County Council are excited to announce the appointment of award-winning poet, Victoria Kennefick to the position of writer in residence for a ten-month period beginning this December. The writer in residence collaborates with communities in the county, improving access to literature and creative writing workshops.

Bandon Primary Students Embrace FrameWorks Art Project

Fourth Class Pupils from Presentation Primary School, Bandon are currently participating in FrameWorks, an initiative of Cork County Council’s Creative Ireland Programme, which allows primary schools across Cork to become temporary custodians of the County Art Collection.

Cork County Council’s LHQ Gallery is excited to present a group exhibition titled ‘Small Things Like These’ aptly named after a novel by Claire Keegan, which is set in the mid 80s and looks at the weeks leading up to Christmas capturing the busyness of the season, the family traditions, and the complicit silences of a town.

Arts Funding Opportunities Announced for Cork County

Cork County Council has announced details of its 2024 funding opportunities for the county’s arts sector. Cork County Council’s Library and Arts Service is inviting proposals for funding for arts projects, activities and events taking place in the Cork County administrative area in 2024 that may be eligible for funding under a range of grant assistance schemes available.
