The Discovery Channel has just recently wrapped up filming on Spike Island Cork for their premier new series, ‘Breaking History’, due to air in the autumn. The series is visiting some of the world’s iconic historical sites to film new areas being uncovered.
County Council owned Camden Fort Meagher, in Crosshaven County Cork, is internationally recognised as one of the finest examples of a classical Coastal Artillery Fort in the world.
For residents of Mallow and beyond, the Easter weekend signals the commencement of the biggest event of the season for the region– the renowned Racing Home for Easter Festival. As the main sponsor of the festival, Cork County Council was delighted to welcome members of the Racing Home for Easter Committee at the recent launch of the festival, which took place in the scenic grounds of Mallow Castle.
Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Patrick Gerard Murphy recently launched the Updated Festival / Events Guidelines & Policies at the Oriel House Hotel in Ballincollig.
The launch took place ahead of the Cork Festivals & Events Workshop, which was organised by Cork County Council in conjunction with AOIFE (Association Of Irish Festivals & Events). The Workshop was open to Festival / Event organisers throughout the county and received a significant response, with over 100 attendees present.
Festival and event organisers throughout the county will have opportunity to maximise their growth potential and generate additional revenue at Cork County Council’s Festival and Events Workshop, which is taking place at the Oriel House Hotel in Ballincollig, on the evening of January 22nd. In recognition of the importance that festivals and events play in the economic growth and cultural identity of the county, Cork County Council are delighted to host this Workshop, in conjunction with AOIFE (Association of Irish Festivals & Events).
The Cork International Travel Fair in association with Cork Airport will take place at the Cork International Hotel on 1st & 2nd February 2020. The event in its 4th year is the perfect place to book your holiday, either at home or abroad.
Ireland’s Association for Adventure Tourism (IAAT) has announced that they will host their 2019 conference on Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st November in Charleville, Co. Cork. This year's event is with the support of Official Event Partner Cork County Council, and in conjunction with Munster Vales and Ballyhoura Development.

Festivals & Events of all shapes and sizes are held in towns and villages across the county and play an important role in attracting thousands of visitors to Cork annually, which in turn generates a substantial economic return for the Cork region. Cork County Council, as a significant financial contributor to festivals/events throughout the county, are organising this Workshop (in conjunction with AOIFE), with a view to helping support festivals to maximise their growth potential and gain valuable industry insights.
