Cork County Council Announces Circular Economy Fund to Combat Single Use Plastics

Cork County Council has launched a new Circular Economy Fund with the aim of empowering local action to drive a more circular economy. The fund aims to support communities to move away from the traditional linear ‘take-make-use-dispose’ model towards more circular living where resources are reused or recycled, reducing wastage.

Met Eireann Status Orange - Wind Warning Storm Kathleen

Cork County Council’s Severe Weather Assessment Team convened today following the issuing of a Met Éireann Status Orange Wind Warning for Cork.  The warning is in effect from 7.00am to 5.00pm Saturday April 6th.  Storm Kathleen is expected to bring gale force southerly winds, with some severe and damaging gusts.

Cork County Council announces a new Emerging Visual Artist Award

Cork County Council Arts Office has announced a new award for emerging visual artists. The Emerging Visual Artist Award 2024 will provide an artist with a financial bursary and the opportunity for a solo exhibition at the Cork County Council LHQ Gallery.

Per Cent for Art Scheme Sculptures Installed as part of N22 Road Development

Two large scale artistic features have been installed along the new N22 road between Macroom and Baile Bhuirne.  The sculptural forms representing female heads were created by West Cork based artist Sarah Goyvaerts and were commissioned by Cork County Council and Transport Infrastructure Ireland with funding from the Per Cent for Art Scheme for the N22 development.

Cork County Council Announces Reopening of Camden Fort Meagher

Cork County Council is delighted to announce that the long-awaited reopening of Camden Fort Meagher will take place on Saturday, the 27th of April. The fort closed to the public for the 2023 season to facilitate essential repair work to safeguard the structural integrity of Camden Fort Meagher for many years to come.

Cork County Council Announces Heritage Grant Schemes for 2024

Cork County Council has announced the opening of the County Cork Heritage Grant Scheme for 2024. The Scheme seeks to recognise the unrivalled heritage of the county and the numerous groups who actively engage with their local heritage, protecting and promoting it for residents and visitors alike.

Cork County Council’s delegation met with Consul General Mr. Kevin Byrne, and with President Toni Preckwinkle Cook County Board of Commissioners, to discuss the Working Holiday Authorisation Programme.
