County Council owned Camden Fort Meagher, in Crosshaven County Cork, is internationally recognised as one of the finest examples of a classical Coastal Artillery Fort in the world.
In recent years Cork County Council has worked, in partnership with community group Rescue Camden, to carry out major conservation and refurbishment of the 45acre site and the restoration project is ongoing. With an aim of continuously enhancing the visitor experience, including accessibility, this week sees the launch of the Camden Fort Meagher Survey conducted as part of the European Union Horizon 2020 Cutler project and available to complete online now.
Mayor of the County of Cork Cllr Patrick Gerard Murphy is encouraging visitors to lend their opinions and participate in the survey “The survey only takes a couple of moments to complete and it is an opportunity for people to shape the future development of Camden Fort Meagher and to help improve the visitor experience and accessibility for everyone.”
With panoramic views of Cork harbour, an extensive labyrinth of underground tunnels and chambers to explore, interactive exhibitions and battle re-enactments to enjoy and steeped as it is in almost 400 years of military history, Camden Fort Meagher is a unique visitor experience with something to offer for everyone.
A visit to the site is a rich and unique experience – you can view the only resident 9-11 exhibition in the world outside of New York, descend 160ft down the Bright Tunnel, see the last anchorage point of the Titanic and relax with refreshments in the classically decorated tea rooms and much more! This survey is your chance to make the experience even better.
