Following another challenging year for the community and voluntary sector, Cork County Council has announced support of over €1.8million to support local communities in 2022. The Council’s annual Community Fund Scheme benefits hundreds of groups across the county and is now open for applications.

The scheme is administered locally by the eight Municipal Districts and each year provides financial assistance to a range of different community, sporting and voluntary organisations under three distinctive fund types: The Capital Fund, Community Contract and Amenity Fund.

Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Gillian Coughlan, welcomed the announcement of the 2022 scheme,

“Our community groups and voluntary organisations have shown remarkable resilience over the past two years. Despite the many challenges and restrictions, their determination to improve their areas and support their wider community is inspiring. Each year, this scheme supports a range of projects and initiatives, including the work of Tidy Towns groups and community associations, infrastructural works, and sports and leisure facilities. I encourage groups to consider making an application to this year’s fund and look forward to seeing many more worthwhile projects progressed for 2022.”

Chief Executive of Cork County Council, Tim Lucey, noted,

“In 2022 we are making over €1.8million available to communities through our General Municipal Allocation. This is Cork County Council’s eighth year providing the Community Fund Scheme and it has assisted in delivering a host of valuable community initiatives across Cork County year after year. Given the challenges of Covid-19 and the relentless work undertaken by our community and voluntary sector, this financial support has never been more important. This annual scheme demonstrates our commitment to supporting these groups and working together to continually improve our towns and villages.”

Guidelines for the scheme and application details are available online at www.yourcouncil.ie from Wednesday, 12th January 2022 and will close at 4pm on Tuesday, 15th February 2022. Further information is available in the Guidelines for the 2022 Community Fund

Tar éis bliain dhúshlánach eile don earnáil phobail agus dheonach, tá tacaíocht de bhreis is €1.8 milliún fógartha ag Comhairle Contae Chorcaí chun tacú le pobail áitiúla in 2022. Téann Scéim Chiste Pobail bhliantúil na Comhairle chun tairbhe na gcéadta grúpa ar fud an chontae agus tá sé oscailte anois d’iarratais.

Tá an scéim á riar go háitiúil ag na hocht gCeantar Bhardasach agus cuireann sé cúnamh airgeadais ar fáil gach bliain do raon leathan d'eagraíochtaí éagsúla pobail, spóirt agus deonacha faoi thrí chineál ciste ar leith: An Ciste Caipitil, Conradh Pobail agus Ciste Taitneamhachta.

Chuir Méara Chontae Chorcaí, an Comhairleoir Gillian Coughlan, fáilte roimh fhógra na scéime do 2022,

“Tá athléimneacht iontach léirithe ag ár ngrúpaí pobail agus ár n-eagraíochtaí deonacha le dhá bhliain anuas. In ainneoin na ndúshlán agus na srianta iomadúla, tá a ndíograis chun feabhas a chur ar a gceantair agus tacú lena bpobal níos leithne spreagúil. Gach bliain, tacaíonn an scéim seo le raon tionscadal agus tionscnamh, lena n-áirítear obair ghrúpaí na mBailte Slachtmhara agus cumainn phobail, oibreacha bonneagair, agus áiseanna spóirt agus fóillíochta. Molaim do ghrúpaí smaoineamh ar iarratas a dhéanamh ar chiste na bliana seo agus táim ag tnúth le go leor tionscadal fiúntach eile a fheiscint á gcur chun cinn do 2022.”

Thug Príomhfheidhmeannach Chomhairle Contae Chorcaí, Tim Lucey, fé ndeara,

“In 2022 táimid ag cur níos mó ná €1.8 milliún ar fáil do phobail trínár Leithdháileadh Bardasach Ginearálta. Is í seo an t-ochtú bliain ina  bhfuil Scéim an Chiste Pobail a sholáthar ag Comhairle Contae Chorcaí,  agus chabhraigh sé le hiliomad tionscnamh  pobail luachmhar  a sheachadadh ar fud Chontae Chorcaí bliain i ndiaidh bliana. I bhfianaise na ndúshlán a bhaineann le Covid-19 agus an obair shíoraí atá déanta ag ár n-earnáil phobail agus dheonach, tá an tacaíocht airgeadais seo níos tábhachtaí anois ná riamh. Léiríonn an scéim bhliantúil seo ár dtiomantas do thacaíocht a thabhairt do na grúpaí seo agus oibriú le chéile chun ár mbailte agus ár sráidbhailte a fheabhsú go leanúnach.”

Tá treoirlínte don scéim agus sonraí iarratais ar fáil ar líne ag www.yourcouncil.ie ón gCéadaoin, 12 Eanáir 2022 agus dúnfar ag 4in Dé Máirt, 15 Feabhra 2022.
