Cork County Council has launched a new advertising campaign targeting inbound visitors to Cork Airport to help regenerate the tourism economy in Cork.

The Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Gillian Coughlan has officially opened the new Kanturk Library. Situated in Market Square in the heart of Kanturk town, this user-friendly facility replaces the old mobile library bus in the mart and will be open 40 hours a week through lunch and have three staff.

Cork County Council and Waterford City and County Council are to examine the feasibility of a new Greenway linking the two counties.

Cork County Council is seeking expressions of interest from interested builders and developers to secure turnkey homes in areas where the need for affordable housing is most acute.

 

Cork County Council’s Library Service have a series of events on offer to mark this year’s International Women’s Day which takes place on Tuesday 8th March 2022. Libraries throughout the county will be organising book and information displays, as well as some special events aimed at celebrating and supporting women.

 

Cork County Council’s Library and Arts Service has announced two competitions to mark Seachtain na Gaeilge which takes place from the 1st to the 17th of March this year.

Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, has announced €893,001 in funding to support Cork County Council in the delivery of four projects under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.  The funding will support the development of town centre Remote Working Hubs at Cobh and Mitchelstown Libraries, including Hot Desks, Offices and Meeting Facilities. In the village of Kiskeam, the Council will work in conjunction with An Post to revitalise a currently vacant property adjoining the post office into a hot desking facility for remote workers.

The Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Gillian Coughlan has officially opened the new state-of-the-art Bandon Library. Situated in the heart of Bandon town, the purpose-built facility is home to two 3D printers and is set to open 365 days a year. 

Storm Franklin will cause very strong winds with severe and damaging gusts. These winds combined with very high seas will lead to wave overtopping along Atlantic coasts, which may result in coastal flooding.

Cork County is currently under a Met Éireann a Status Yellow wind and rain warning in effect until 6.00pm today together with a current snow and ice yellow warning in place until 10.00 am tomorrow Saturday 19/02/2022.
