Cork County Council Storm Barra Update 4.00PM

A Met Éireann Red Wind Warning for Storm Barra remains in place until 21.00 tonight with a Met Eireann Orange Wind Warning in effect until 06.00 Wednesday December 8th and a Yellow Wind and Rain Warning in effect until 18.00 Wednesday December 8th.

Storm Barra – update from Cork County Council

A Met Éireann Red Wind Warning remains in place until 9.00pm tonight as Storm Barra travels across the country bringing severe and damaging wind gusts with a wind gust of 156km/h recorded at Fastnet Lighthouse and 113 km/h recorded at 6am on Sherkin Island.

Red Wind Warning in effect across Cork County – Storm Barra

Cork County remains under a Met Éireann Red Wind Warning until 9.00pm tonight as Storm Barra travels across the country with severe and damaging wind gusts in excess of 130km/h expected. Dangerous conditions are also being experienced at sea with marine warnings in place along all Irish coasts, including a Red Marine Warning for southwestern sea areas. A Yellow Rain Warning is also in effect with the strong winds accompanied by heavy rain.

Met Éireann has issued a Red Wind Warning for County Cork from 6.00am to 9.00pm tomorrow Tuesday 7th December, as Storm Barra is expected to bring severe and damaging wind gusts in excess of 130km/h.  Dangerous conditions are also expected at sea with marine warnings in place along all Irish coasts, including a Red Marine Warning for southwestern sea areas.

Met Éireann Status Orange - Wind Warning Storm Barra

From early Tuesday morning, throughout the day and for much of Wednesday, an Atlantic depression named Storm Barra will bring very strong winds and spells of heavy rain across Ireland. Winds will be strongest in western and southern coastal counties with severe or damaging gusts possible. Heavy rain will bring localised flooding. There will also be high waves at sea and a significant possibility of coastal flooding on south and west coasts.

New Mobile Library Trucks Hit the Road for Cork Readers

Cork County Council’s Library and Arts Service has added three new mobile libraries to its fleet serving book lovers across the county. The state-of-the-art trucks are replacing older vehicles in North, East and South Cork thanks to a €592,000 investment from the Council and will follow the replacement of the Mobile Library truck serving West Cork in 2017.

HERITAGE FUNDING AVAILABLE FOR MONUMENTS IN COUNTY CORK

The owners and custodians of archaeological monuments in County Cork are being invited to apply for funding to safeguard these structures into the future. Nationally, €5 million is available under the Community Monuments Fund 2022, which is a threefold increase since it was established two years ago.
