Temporary Closing of Public Roads

Pursuant to Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993, & Article 12 of the Roads Regulations 1994, notice is hereby given that Cork County Council proposes to temporarily close the following road for the period and reason specified below:

Road Subject of Proposed Closure

L-2031-0 (Part) Casement Road, Bandon, Co. Cork.

“Phase I” – L-2031-0 (Part) Casement Road, Bandon, from the centre line of Well Road junction to Glasslyn Estate junction.  (Works area contained within centre line of Well Road junction to a point 35m southwards).

“Phase II” – L-2031-0 (Part) Casement Road, Bandon, on the section of one-way traffic road (from the upper junction to a point 14 metre northwards).

Period of Proposed Closure 

From 07:00hrs on Monday 28th November 2022 to 19:00hrs on Thursday 22nd December 2022. (24hr Closure).

Either Phase I or Phase II will be implemented at any stage.

Reason for Proposed Closure

To facilitate Irish Water Pipeline Construction.

Alternative Routes

During “Phase I”,

Traffic intending to traverse the road closure from the north-side shall divert east along Well Road, turn right onto Oliver Plunkett Street, turn right onto Parnell Street, turn right onto N71, turn right onto Casement Road to access the road closure from the opposite side.

The stated diversion route is applicable in reverse when travelling in the opposite direction.  Access from Well Road northbound shall only be to the Fire Station.

During “Phase II”,

Traffic intending to access the one-way section of Casement Road from Oliver Plunkett Street shall follow the “Phase I” diversion route stated from Oliver Plunkett Street onwards, which is also applicable in reverse when travelling in the opposite direction.

Public vehicle egress to the one-way system will be prohibited. 

Local access and egress from the one-way system only at times where the contractor can agree to safely allow such.

Period of Proposed Closure 

From 08:00hrs to 18.00hrs on Wednesday 30th November 2022. (Daily Closure).

Reason for Proposed Closure

To facilitate Irish Water Connection and Developer Services Works, Wastewater connection.

Alternative Routes

Via the L-3648-0 Careystown Hill and the L-3650-0 Lower Road, Whitegate.

The stated diversion route is applicable in reverse when travelling in the opposite direction.

Local access will be maintained throughout the duration of the Road Closure.

L-32340-0, Short Quay, Kinsale, Co. Cork.

Period of Proposed Closure 

From 08.00hrs on Monday, 5th December 2022 to 08.00hrs on Monday, 4th November 2023.  (24hr Closure).

Reason for Proposed Closure

To facilitate Temporary pedestrianisation of streets to assist with creating Pedestrian Priority Zones within the Town Centre thereby promoting a safe environment on our public streets that is mutually beneficial to both the Town’s people, visitors and businesses.

Alternative Routes

Short Quay - Proceed via R-600 Emmet Place turning onto R-605-98 Pearce Street turning left onto L-3234-0 Market Street at the White House.
