Contract signed for Construction of 30 Social Housing Units for Blarney & Kanturk

Cork County Council has signed a contract with Cumnor Construction Ltd for the development of a total of 30 residential units, 18 of which will be in Blarney and a further 12 in Kanturk. 

The units will consist of a mix of 1, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses and the total scheme cost is expected to be in the region of €8.2million.

Chief Executive of Cork County Council, Tim Lucey, commenting on the development said,

Fairfield Drive – Council’s social housing scheme in Macroom officially opened

Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Patrick Gerard Murphy was joined by Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine Michael Creed TD to official open the Fairfield Drive housing scheme in Masseytown, Macroom.  The scheme is one of a number of Cork County Council’s built construction projects that will be delivered over the coming years to address need and meet the targets set in Rebuilding Ireland.

Speaking of the development, Mayor Murphy commented on the Council delivering housing where needed and ahead of target,

Cork County Council exceeds Housing Construction Targets by 26%

Cork County Council this morning welcomed the publication,  by Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government, Eoghan Murphy TD, of the housing delivery target outcomes for 2018, confirming that the Council over achieved its house building delivery target by 26%.

The published figures have confirmed the Council’s commitment to the delivery of social housing, particularly in the areas of construction and acquisition.
