Update on Prior Warning Notices for Beaches

Good News! The Prior Warning Notices have been lifted from the following beaches, Youghal Front Strand; Garryvoe; Garrettstown; Warren; Rocky Bay and Coolmaine. Following consultation with the HSE the samples taken from these beaches are compliant with the Bathing Water Quality Regulations.

Prohibition Notices still remain in place at Oysterhaven and Redbarn Beaches, as well as an Advisory Notice at Youghal Claycastle beach.  We will be reviewing the status of these beaches later on today with the HSE.

Update on Prior Warning Notices that are in place at a number of beaches

As previously advised Prior Warning notices are in place at a number of beaches along the Cork coast related to recent extreme weather. Following results from samples taken yesterday 26/8/20 and after consultation with the HSE, Prohibition Notices against  bathing have been put in place at Redbarn and Oysterhaven beaches.

An Advisory Notice against bathing has been put in place at Youghal Claycastle. Staff from the councils environment laboratory will seek to take samples in the coming days, weather and wind conditions permitting and will continue to liaise with the HSE.

Cork’s New Low Smoke Zones

Blue flag has been lowered temporarily at Redbarn beach (Bilingual)

The blue flag has been lowered temporarily at Redbarn beach. This action has been taken due to storm damage to the lifeguard station, which unfortunately requires our Redbarn lifeguards to be stood down. However, we are currently working on repairs, and hope to have the lifeguards, and blue flag, reinstated as soon as possible.
