Illustrated Lecture - 'Her Story'

Blarney & District Historical Society presents an illustrated lecture titled Blarney 1918 - Anti-Conscription - Armistice - Election in Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal (Blarney Secondary School).

In April 1918 the British government attempted to impose conscription in Ireland by imposing a law which was passed but never put into effect. No Irish person was ever drafted into the British Army. The Armistice of 11 November 1918  brought an end to fighting on land, sea and air in World War I between the Allies and Germany.

Ballyphehane 1916-2016 Centenary Commemoration Committee has organised an afternoon to commemorate James Mountain on Saturday 3rd November 2018. The event will include a ceremony, music and the reading of the Fenian Proclamation followed by a talk and refreshments in the Ballyphehane Community Centre. All welcome.

2nd Annual Creative Ireland County Cork Conference Báile Mhúirne 9/10th November 2018

Creative Ireland is a five year national programme that seeks to put culture at the heart of who we are and what we do as a people. The Programme is in recognition of the exceptional role that people and groups have been playing with regards to preserving and promoting culture locally and provides a myriad of supports to encourage continued belief in this culture and creativity in its expression. 

CREATIVE IRELAND CONFERENCE – BAILE MHÚIRNE

The second annual Creative Ireland Conference will get under way in the Abbey Hotel on the morning of Friday 9th November in the culture steeped village of Baile Mhúirne, beginning with talks by members of Cork County Council’s Culture Team (with representation across the Arts, Library, Heritage, Tourism and Irish sections of the Council) to indicate the various supports and initiatives currently in place for promotion of culture within the County.

Youghal Library Open Day

Every year the Library Association of Ireland holds a National Library Ireland Week to promote and celebrate the work of public libraries nationwide, which this year runs from November 26th-December 2nd. The theme for this year is "Librarians Transforming Lives".

Youghal Library provides a great community facility and is used by groups such as Youghal Lace Group, Knitting Group, Creative Writing Group, Childrens Book Club, Youghal Community Development Group, Youghal Youthreach and Youghal Tourism.
