PRIMARY SCHOOLS SHORT STORY COMPETITION
Win a trip to Spike Island, pool parties & goodies!

County Cork schools are invited to enter a road safety short story competition for Children’s Book Festival Week 2017. Winning entries can win trips to Spike Island, swimming pool parties, RNLI Station Visits, Safety hampers; and best of all, winning entries will be published in a Road Safety Story Book for primary schools!

Your story must feature 2 children - Sally & Jake (aged 8 and 10) -who are great friends and love to get up to all sorts of fun & games. Your story chapter content should demonstrate the following:-

• Cycle Safety (helmets, Hi viz, correct size bicycle, cycle on left, in front of a parent)
• Children need supervision around roads
• Playing near and walking safely on the road
• Machinery & large vehicles on the road - they don’t have a view of small people
• Look out for younger children at all times
• The Safe Cross Code while using the road
• Wearing of Hi Viz jackets
