Writers Day Graphic

Join us on Friday December 1st  at 2pm LHQ Gallery, Carrigrohane Road, Cork
Almost every library in County Cork runs its own Writing Group. Every month, dozens of writers gather in their local County Library to read, write and encourage one another in their creative endeavours, be it poetry, fiction or memoir. As Writer in Residence 2017, Denyse Woods has worked with five designated libraries around the county, and will chair this event to highlight  the work of writing  groups (some of which have been meeting for up to fifteen years), to welcome new members and to offer a platform to as many county writers as possible during our Reading Lottery.
We will hold a panel discussion about library writing groups, featuring speakers from each of the 2017 designated libraries, followed by an Open Floor Q&A, to which you can contribute your own suggestions and queries.
This will be followed by a fun, fast-paced reading open to members of library groups county-wide, which will be held as a Lottery to make sure as many as possible get a chance to take part.
If interested, please bring along a piece no longer than 200 words that you would like to read, put your name in the hat on arrival and listen out in case you’re called!
Meet and connect with some of your fellow writers, have a chat and a cup of tea, and spend a whole afternoon celebrating writing. What could be better?
