Clonakilty International Guitar Festival Goes Green
Clonakilty International Guitar Festival returned for its 18th year this September 9th to 18th. For 10 days the town of Clonakilty became the stage, where small venues and re-imagined public spaces facilitated encounters with great music and great people.
Cork County Council was delighted to support the Clonakilty International Guitar Festival through the Local Festival Fund 2022 and provided additional support to the festival organisers through the Pilot Green Festivals Programme.
The Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Danny Collins said
“The sun shone on the guitar festival which delivered successfully on its pilot green festival programme. There is a definite appetite for festivals and the green agenda to be mutually beneficial. It was wonderful to see participants and visitors to the festival engaging with the Cork County Council supported initiatives such as the Refill Tap Map, seeing the next generation at Clonakilty Community College soaking up the presentation by Native Events. The In-person support provided to assist with the implementation of the green initiatives were kept busy guiding us to clearly signed waste and recycling and answering questions."
