STATUS YELLOW SNOW-ICE WARNING

Cork County Council is urging motorists to take extreme care on the roads as snowfall and ice is forecasted for the county during the current cold spell.

Met Eireann have issued a Status Yellow Warning for snow and ice valid from 03:00 Thursday 09/03/23 to 23:00 Thursday 09/03/2023. Accumulations of snow are expected in many areas along with icy conditions.

Cork County Council crews will be salting designated priority routes but are advising motorists to exercise extreme caution due to prolonged periods of low temperatures, rain, sleet and snow. Conditions like these can be challenging to treat with intermittent rainfall/snow and freezing conditions likely between salting treatments that may result in icy conditions.
