Cork County Council was required to close part of Oliver Plunkett Street in Bandon in order to protect the public. This decision was necessitated following indications that a building on the street was damaged and presented a risk to the public and road users. The building has since deteriorated further and continues to present a risk to the public. The Council will open the road once the risk from the damaged building has been mitigated and the road and footpath are safe for public access. Cork County Council is working to restore the public space as early as possible but in the meantime it is essential that members of the public are aware of risk which could be presented by the damaged buildings and avoid the area which has been closed off until it is safe to use.
