Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Declan Hurley, welcomed Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring TD to West Cork where he visited a number of locations to have benefited under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.
The scheme forms part of the Government's Action Plan for Rural Development which focuses on kick-starting economic activity and directly benefits local communities.
Speaking of the visit, Mayor Hurley highlighted the positive impacts the scheme has facilitated,
“Cork County Council received €1,347,826.77 for 15 towns across the county under the 2017 Town and Village Renewal Scheme. From heritage trails to enhanced streetscapes, the scheme supports economic development and enables initiatives to boost visitor numbers throughout Cork.”
Minister Ring will visit a variety of beneficiaries of the Town and Village Renewal Scheme, including Clonakilty walkway and Drinagh streetscape, both of which are due to commence shortly.
