Cork County Council can confirm that all but 1 regional road has been cleared; the following remains closed due to a large number of fallen trees and ongoing repair works with the ESB.

R579 Midleton to Dungourney

There are still a significant amount of local roads impassable. The Council is confident that a number of these roads will reopen before nightfall this evening. However, some of these require the ESB to initially deal with cables and may not reopen for a few days.

Irish Water, in consultation with Cork County Council, are deploying tankers and static tanks to a number of locations throughout the county which continue to be affected by supply interruptions.  Full details of tanker locations can be found on www.water.ie.

The situation is changing continually as power is returning in many areas.  Larger supplies such as Fermoy, Youghal, Kinsale, Clonakilty and Bandon are now back in service. Customers without water should contact Irish Water on 1850 278 278 or consult their website for the most up to date information.  At the Council’s request, the Civil Defence are on standby to assist with the distribution of water if required.

A substantial number of customers remain affected by power outages.  ESB networks are working to restore supply as soon as possible.

A number of Council offices remain affected.   Should members of the public have difficulty contacting any council office, please contact our incident line on 021 4800048.  The number of incident calls has reduced dramatically as the clean up continues.

Cork County Council would again like to take this opportunity to thank members of the public for their patience and assistance at this time.

Cork County Council will continue to post further updates on Cork County Council's twitter page @CorkCoCo and website at www.CorkCoCo.ie. Matters are being monitored and responded to on an ongoing basis and regular updates will follow.
