Cork County Council Community Support Programme re-establishes with fresh focus on assisting Ukrainian Refugees

The Community Support Programme, formed during the Covid Pandemic, is a multi-agency approach which brings together representatives of both Statutory and Voluntary agencies operating across Cork County, ensuring commitment and consistency in terms of service delivery.

Design Team Appointed to Develop Mitchelstown Georgian Quarter

A team of architects is set to visit North Cork next week to begin work on developing Mitchelstown Georgian Quarter. The project centres around public realm improvements in the centre of Mitchelstown, building upon its rich urban heritage and highlighting its unique historic character.

The Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Gillian Coughlan leads trade and tourism delegation to the US

The Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Gillian Coughlan has visited the city of Chicago in Cook County Illinois with a trade delegation from Cork County. One of the highlights of a hectic visit was a meeting with Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle.  Cork County and Cook County signed a Sister County Agreement in July 1999, which has gone on to become the longest agreement in Cook County.  The aim of the agreement is to foster economic, commercial and cultural links between both counties.  The delegation also discussed local government best practice and ideas on how the two counties could collaborate further.

N/M20 Cork to Limerick Project - Preferred Transport Solution Public Display

  Limerick City and County Council is progressing the development of the N/M20 Cork to Limerick project in partnership with Cork County Council, Cork City Council, Transport Infrastructure Ireland and the Department of Transport. The project is a priority investment in the Government’s National Development Plan 2021-2030. A consultation process was held in late 2020 / early 2021, that received significant public feedback on a number of road-based and rail-based options proposed and the active travel strategy.

Cork County Council is today announcing the opening of the County Cork Commemorations Grant Scheme and the County Cork Heritage Grant Scheme for 2022. These schemes seek to recognise the unrivalled heritage of the county, the numerous groups who actively engage with their local heritage, and the many groups dedicated to commemorating the centenary of the War of Independence and Civil War.
