Noise Pollution

The Noise Laboratory is located in Inniscarra Waterworks, Inniscarra, Co. Cork. It implements the provisions of:

• The Environmental Protection Agency Act,1992, (Sections 107and 108)
• The Environmental Protection Agency Act,1992 (Noise) regulations, 1994 (S.I. No.179 of 1994) 

The key activities carried out include:

• Investigation of complaints under the above legislation.
• Industrial operations which include inspections, monitoring and analysis of recorded noise data.
• Evaluation of submitted monitoring data.
• Compilation of  Freedom of Information Act data requests.
• Environmental inspections and reporting  for planning applications.
• Monitoring and enforcement of planning/license conditions.
• Attendance and giving evidence in legal proceedings.
