VISIT OF CROESGOCH HERITAGE SOCIETY AND GOODWICK BRASS BAND TO CHARLEVILLE - Charleville Heritage Society is twinned with the Croesgoch Heritage Society (near Fishguard) in Wales. Some of latter's members are also associated with the nearby Goodwick Brass Band, who are UK and Welsh national title winners and one of the top brass bands in the world. Charleville will be hosting members of the Croesgoch Heritage Society over the last weekend in June and the 42 strong Goodwick Band is also coming to town. They will perform at Charleville Agricultural Show on Sunday afternoon and in a concert at the Charleville Park Hotel on Sunday night 30th June, with a full supporting programme. Admission is only €10 to the concert and a terrific night's entertainment is assured. All welcome.
POP-UP MUSEUM - To mark the 40th year of Charleville Agricultural Show Charleville Heritage Society are organising a pop-up museum on their stand at the Show. They will display storyboards of the town's founder Roger Boyle (Lord Broghill) and the many famous people who were either born in or are associated with the town, such as Sean Clarach Mac Domhnaill, Archbishop Thomas W. Croke of Cashel, Archbishop Daniel Mannix of Melbourne, Bishop William Reeves, Church of Ireland Bishop of Down, Connor and Dromore, Eliza Lynch, National Heroine of Paraguay, Bishop Robert Browne of Cloyne, John Anster, to mention but some. We will also display items of historical interest plus many photographs. So, if you are at the Show please visit the Charleville Heritage Society stand.
