There’s Drama in the Air for Creative Elders

Cork County Council are inviting people from County Cork over the age of 55 to join writer Katie Holly to create a radio drama as part of a Creativity in Older Age project. Katie will support participants in producing the radio drama via workshops in County Library Headquarters on Carrigrohane Road every 2-3 weeks on Fridays from 2 to 4pm. Participants will develop, write and produce a series of episodes for radio while developing new skills and meeting likeminded people who share a love of storytelling. No previous writing experience is necessary.

Volunteers who assisted during Covid Pandemic honoured at special recognition event

Volunteers who selflessly gave their time to help others during the Covid-19 pandemic have been recognised by the Mayor of the County of Cork Cllr Gillian Coughlan, Manager of the Cork Volunteer Centre Adam Lacy and Chief Executive of Cork County Council Tim Lucey with more than 120 guests in attendance at a very special event to coincide with National Volunteer Week 2022.

New Kanturk Fire Station Officially Opened

A new state-of-the-art fire station, serving more than 15,000 people, has been officially opened in Kanturk. The ribbon was cut by the Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Gillian Coughlan and Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Darragh O’Brien TD on Friday, May 13th, 2022. 
Cork County Council’s Carrigaline MD has announced the 2022 Shop Front Improvement Scheme and Residential Painting Scheme is now open for applications. In addition to the settlements of Carrigaline, Passage West, Glenbrook, Monkstown and Crosshaven, the scheme will be also be extended to the villages of Ballygarvan and Ballinhassig. 2022 Paint Scheme Announced for Carrigaline Municipal District

Following on from the success of the 2021 Shop Front Improvement Scheme and Residential Painting Scheme, Elected Members of Cork County Council’s Carrigaline Municipal District have agreed to allocate a further €20,000 towards the scheme for 2022.  In addition to the settlements of Carrigaline, Passage West, Glenbrook, Monkstown and Crosshaven, the scheme will also be extended to the villages of Ballygarvan and Ballinhassig.

Ministerial Visit to six newly constructed Housing Developments (235 units) across Cork County

The Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Gillian Coughlan has welcomed the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage Darragh O’Brien TD to Cork County to visit six newly constructed Social Housing Developments in Skibbereen, Clonakilty and Macroom.  These developments consist of three Public Private Partnership (PPP) Schemes, two Turnkey Developments and one Own Build Development.
