Opening Hours

Tuesday to Saturday: 9.30am - 5.30pm.

Closed Mondays.

Closed Saturday of Bank Holiday Weekends.

Mallow library is a bright, comfortable, welcoming space in the heart of the community that incorporates a Reference Area, Arts Activities Area and a Sensory Area. The Library displays ongoing artistic exhibitions of local interest in our exhibition space. This area can be booked for free to showcase paintings, photos etc. over a two-week period.

Mallow library also offer 2 self-service kiosks for any patron that wishes to use them. Ask any member of staff for instruction.

Accessible public toilets are available.

Membership of Mallow library is free and by joining you have access to over 12 million books, movies and more through www.librariesireland.ie

 

Borrow, Return and Request Items

Twelve items can be borrowed for up to three weeks (including books, audiobooks (for adults), and DVD’s for all ages.)  There are no fines for late returns however, items can be renewed online, by phone or at the library if it is not requested by someone else.

If an item is not available, you can ask at the desk to request it from another public library. You will be notified when it is ready to be picked up.

 

There is also a small graphic novel collection for all groups, including adult readers.

Ask at the desk to view the excellent local history collection. 

 

Newspapers and Magazines

The following publications are available for viewing in the library; The Examiner, The Irish Independent, The Irish Times, The Corkman, The Mallow Star, Hello, Which? and Writers Forum.

Wi-Fi

Free Wi-Fi is available to library members. Borrowers are welcome to use their own laptops, tablets etc. in our branches. All you need is your library card number and 4 digit PIN to log on. Remember to bring your library card with you, to reset your pin if required.

Eduroam Wi-Fi is also now available for 3rd level students and staff.

Public Computers

To use a public computer is free, all you need is your library card number and 4 digit PIN. Remember to bring your library card with you to use the computer. 

To be sure of getting a PC, you can always book ahead. PCs may be booked in person or by phone. All you need is your library card number and PIN. Sessions last up to 55 minutes. Remember to bring your library card with you to login to the computer.

If you haven't booked a computer and there is one free, you are welcome to book it.

Study Spaces

The Library provides a number of study spaces in branch, most with power supply access.  Access to the public Wi-Fi is free with your library card.

Sensory/Quiet Area

The library now offers a quiet area for patrons with additional sensory needs.  Included in this is a “Sensory Pod”.  Enquire at desk for more details.

Photocopying and Scanning

Photocopying and scanning are available at self-service printer.

A4 Black and White  – 0.15 cent per page.

A3 Black and White – 0.20 cent per page.

A4 Colour – 0.60 cent per page.

Scanning - 0.10 per e-mail

Remote Printing

You can now print remotely to the printer in Mallow library. You can print from your tablet or smartphone, from your home computer or laptop or send documents directly via email. Then collect your prints at the self-service printing kiosk at the library by the close of business the following day.

A4 black and white is 15 cent a page. 

A4 colour is 60 cent a page.

A3 black and white is 30 cent a page. 

A3 colour is €1.20 a page.

1.) By email 

Attach your document to an e-mail and ensure you include a subject heading before forwarding to one of the e-mail addresses provided. 

2.) From your browser:

Visit PrinterOn and upload your print job and send directly to the printer.

3.) From Tablet or Smartphone (Android/Apple/Blackberry):

  1. Download the PrinterOn App from Google Play Store or iTunes App Store
  2. Open the App and select what it is you wish to print.
  3. Ensure your Location services are enabled or use the QR code in order to locate the library printers.

*Please note it can take up to 20 minutes before your document is ready to be released from the printer and you have until the close of business the following day to collect your print job.

** Please ensure you have the correct e-mail address from which you sent the document from as this is required when collecting your print job.
