Final Call Issued for 'Best in Cork' Awards

Entries for Cork County Council’s enterprise awards close this weekend

Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Frank O'Flynn launching the 'Best in Cork' Awards.

Cork County Council is reminding businesses to apply for ‘Best in Cork’ Awards ahead of the deadline at 5pm this Sunday. It’s the first year of the awards which aim to honour businesses and tourism providers who go above and beyond for their customers, teams and communities.

There is a theme of sustainability and innovation throughout and the panel of independent judges will be looking for companies to demonstrate the efforts they are making to have a positive impact on the environment.

The awards are free to enter and there are categories suitable for companies of all sizes from the sole trader to the large multinational. There are additional divisional awards for the four categories Best Start-Up, Best Small, Medium and Large Size Business with special lunch events to announce the winners in each of the divisions of North Cork, West Cork and South Cork in December.

The Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Frank O’Flynn said,

We are issuing a final call out to businesses to get their entries in. We have received exceptional entries from companies right across County Cork. The calibre of the new businesses emerging as well as existing companies that continue to adapt and strive for excellence is truly inspiring. All these businesses and tourism providers contribute to their local communities and economies making County Cork a vibrant place we can all be proud of. They deserve to be recognised for the efforts they go to every day and that’s what the Best in Cork Awards are all about.

It is not too late for businesses to apply for the Best in Cork Awards.  It is really simple to apply, there is a short online form consisting of some basic questions about their business and a small number of questions relevant to each category. This is an opportunity for businesses in County Cork to highlight their successes and to shine. In January, the winners will be revealed with one business being named the Mayor of the County of Cork’s Best Overall Business. Being shortlisted and winning awards can help to boost morale, may even assist with attracting top talent and have the added benefit of free publicity.

The winners of the Best in Cork Awards will be revealed at a gala ceremony at Vertigo, Cork County Hall on Thursday, January 25th. Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Frank O’Flynn will also announce the Mayor’s Best Overall Business.

The Best in Cork Award categories are:

●    Best Start-Up (established within past 2 years)
●    Best Small Business (less than 10 staff)*

●    Best Large Business (over 80 staff)*
