West Cork Living Room Concert Ends an Eventful Year on a Festive High Note

As part of ‘A Real Cork Christmas’, Cork County Council are hosting acclaimed pianist David Syme for a festive end of year concert from 7:00pm on Friday, 18th December. Revellers can share in David’s feast of festive music, with the concert available on Cork County Council’s YouTube channel throughout the festive season.

In a year that has brought David’s Living Room Concerts to homes across Cork County, the West Cork resident has joined with Cork County Council Library & Arts Service for a third and final online performance. The acclaimed pianist, who normally performs live in person in Castletownbere, has joined the people of Cork virtually in their own homes, in response to the pandemic and the needs of the wider community.

The performance will include a medley of carols, such as Oh Holy Night and Ava Maria amongst others, which will be shared for viewers far and wide to enjoy.

David Syme explains the concept behind the latest in his Living Room Concert series,

“This is a short collection of songs that you and your family might sing together at home during this festive season. Presented simply and without fanfare, it is brought to you with love and gratitude for our blessings.”

Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Mary Linehan Foley welcomed the launch of this latest musical treat,

“In a year where the world was turned on its head, David Syme has brought simplicity, familiarity and comfort in the form of music that elicits warmth in the hearts of those who hear it. He has provided a way for us all to be together, despite requirements for distancing or remaining at home. I am very much looking forward to enjoying this festive treat with my family over the Christmas period.”

The latest West Cork Living Room Concert is available on Cork County Council’s YouTube channel from 7:00pm this Friday, 18th December and will be available to watch until 4th January 2021.
