Temporary Closing Of Public Road – N71 National Secondary Road - Glengarriff Road, Bantry.

Pursuant to Section 75 of the Roads Act, 1993, and Part 8 of Road Regulations 1994, Article 12 (sub article 6), notice is hereby given that the urgent closure of the road as detailed below, is necessary to facilitate the installation of watermains, road-resurfacing works on the N71 at Glengarriff Road, Bantry and in the interest of public safety.

Road to be Closed:

N71 Glengarriff Road, Bantry.

Date of Closure:

Nightly from Monday 4th July 2022 to Monday 25th July 2022

Hours of Closure:

19.00 to 06.00

Diversion Route:

Light Goods Vehicles and smaller vehicles heading southbound shall be diverted off the N71 via L-4711 Slip Road, then onto L-4749 Church Road and Main Street, then onto L-4755 High Street, L-4753 William Street and then via L-4754 New Street back onto the N71 at Wolfe Tone Square.

Light Goods Vehicles and smaller vehicles heading northbound shall be diverted off the N71 at Wolfe Tone Square onto L-4754 New Street and Bridge Street, then onto L-4752 Chapel Street, then onto L-4751 Market Street, then via L-4749 Church Road and via L-4711 Slip Road back onto the N71.

Heavy Commercial Vehicles heading southbound shall be diverted off the N71 via L-4711 Slip Road, then onto L-4749 Church Road and Main Street, and then contra flow via L-4754 New Street back onto the N71 at Wolfe Tone Square.

Note: New Street junctions and the junction at Slip Road / N71 shall be manned to manage the contra flow traffic.

Heavy Commercial Vehicles heading northbound shall be diverted off the N71 at Wolfe Tone Square onto L-4754 New Street, then contra flow onto L-4749 Main Street and onto L-4749 Church Road, then via L-4711 Slip Road back onto the N71.

Note: Main Street junctions and the junction at Slip Road / N71 shall be manned to manage the contra flow traffic.

The diversion routes will be fully signposted.
